Kai is looking forward to his Youth Confirmation tomorrow, it’s the first step towards adulthood. The boy and his father live on farm land of former Eastern Germany. They intend to slaughter a calf for the festivities tomorrow, however, Kai’s father has made many promises before, and Kai is growing anxious about the actual slaughter.

Running away from his responsibilities, the afternoon leads the teenage boy on detours to Lea, a girl from a small village nearby.  Here, time seems to flow differently, and Kai loses himself in the lazy sumer hours of rural Brandenburg.

Yet, he must eventually return to finish what he started and is once again confronted with his father’s unpredictable nature.
